Randy L. Hertneky, O. D.
Dr. Hertneky is a lifelong resident of Eastern Colorado, spending his early years in Burlington, Colorado. Dr. Hertneky graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology in 1977. He graduated from Southern California College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1981. Dr. Hertneky has been serving Yuma County since 1982. Dr. Hertneky is board certified by the American Board of Optometry. His goal is to provide the widest range of eye and vision services locally for Yuma County residents. He sees Medicare, Medicaid and private pay patients. He accepts most vision care plans.
In addition to providing general eye care, Dr. Hertneky manages or co-manages all ocular pathology, such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eye infections, eye injuries, eyelid problems, and dry eyes. Dr. Hertneky participates with many laser vision correction centers so that preoperative and postoperative care can be done locally. Dr. Hertneky is a member of the Colorado Optometric Glaucoma Society and participates in the Optometric Retinal Society and Optometric Ocular Surface meetings.
Randall W. Smith, M.D.
Cataract Surgery and Refractive Surgery
Dr. Smith graduated with Highest Distinction from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1989 and recieved awards for research in optics and corneal physiology. After his intership at Overlook Hospital, a Columbia University Affiliate in New Jersey, he returned to his home state to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Eye Institute at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1993 and served as a VA chief resident. Dr. Smith worked in private practice in New Jersey with additional training in refractive surgery before he and his family moved to Fort Collins in 1996.
Dr. Smith’s comprehensive ophthalmology and refractive practice treats a wide range of eye disease including cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. His practice emphasizes custom cataract surgery and laser vision correction to achieve optimal sight at all distances for his patients. He enjoys matching the multiple lens and laser options to his patient’s needs including the latest in LASIK, CK, asitgmatism-correction, Tecnis Multifocal, Crystalens and ReStor. He enjoys teaching and working with residents and other doctors and is principal or co-investigator on corneal and cataract research studies.
